Harish's $1000 for 1 minute Campaign!

Friends, family, and colleagues –

This year I am helping Engineers Without Borders build a World of Opportunity for rural Africans.

In communities across Zambia, Malawi, Ghana and Burkina Faso there are millions of hardworking and innovative people seeking the chance to improve their lives. Yet, all too often they are stuck - unable to move forward because they lack the same opportunities that you and I have here in Canada. Through applying practical and creative solutions, EWB is improving long-term access to clean water and critical infrastructure, and increasing opportunities for rural Africans to earn an income and invest in a brighter future.

I’ve decided to take the plunge and use Vancouver’s annual Polar Bear swim on January 1, 2010 as a means for achieving my fundraising goal for EWB. What better way to kick-start the year by jumping into 3˚C water in nothing but a Speedo?! I may be crazy (and ignorance probably is a bliss here), but I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t believe in the cause EWB represents or know first-hand of the incredibly high impact your donation dollars have in this organization!

My ‘$1,000 for 1 minute’ campaign refers to the fact that if I reach my fundraising goal of $1,000, I will spend 1 minute in that icy water off English Bay, or for every $100 raised, I will spend 6 seconds! You are more than welcome to join me on January 1, whether as a participant, supporter or hot chocolate provider, but my main ask is that you support EWB’s work this holiday season, and my passion and commitment to EWB! Together, we can help increase the opportunities for rural Africans to thrive.

Thanks so much!
