Michelle's $1000 Cold Water Challenge

Friends, family, and colleagues –

This year I am helping Engineers Without Borders build a World of Opportunity for rural Africans. In Africa, thousands of people go without access to clean water, something that is so easy for us, we don't even think about it.

I know that people are asked for all kinds of donations at this time of year, so I’m going to keep the request small (only $10!) and hope to make up the amount with numbers. Of course you can donate more if you’d like!

Going with the water theme, if I can get 100 people to each donate $10 (or a total of $1000) I will jump into the freezing waters of English Bay on January 1, decked out in one of the following outfits:

• Xena Warrior Princess (Selected for style and not warmth)

•The Fair Trade Banana (Selected for warmth, with slight hazard of distress in water due to bulk)

• The Hamburglar (Ummm...because I already have the costume)

*

In today’s economy, you can’t buy much with $10. Instead of donating, you could get:

• ¾ of a pack of Marlborough’s (for real... I had to look that one up)

• Ten balloons at the dollar store, nine if you include tax

• About 9 litres of gas, depending on the day

*

For a limited time only, a mere $10 will get you the following:

• A chance to vote on which ridiculous costume I will wear while taking the plunge

• A delux video of the whole ordeal (posted on Facebook or made available upon request)

• A warm fuzzy feeling

• A brief not so warm, hopefully not fuzzy-at-all feeling for me

• And most importantly, help Engineers Without Borders build a World of Opportunity for rural Africans.

We CAN make a difference this holiday season

Thanks for your time and best wishes for a safe and happy holiday!
