Daniel's World of Opportunity

Facilitating a data collection training

Friends, family, and colleagues –

Why do small-town water systems in Ghana break down two months after they're constructed? Why do new schools only educate children for 2 days a week? These are some of the tough questions that are not being critically analyzed in Ghana. Donors want to see new infrastructure. Politicians want to see new infrastructure. Nobody wants to tackle the complexity of developing systems that ensure the long-term sustainability of infrastructure.

For the past year, I have been working with Engineers without Borders on their Governance and Rural Infrastructure team in Ghana. We are working with local Ghanaians to help build the government systems that will ultimately provide improved public services to rural Ghanaians.

In communities across Zambia, Malawi, Ghana and Burkina Faso there are millions of hardworking and innovative people seeking the chance to improve their lives. Yet, all too often they are stuck - unable to move forward because they lack the same opportunities that you and I have here in Canada.

This is why I am asking you to support EWB’s work this holiday season. I believe that EWB is a powerful vehicle for creating positive change. EWB is seeking to increase its impact – by doubling its volunteer capacity and flexibility to innovate. I know that we will use your donation effectively, and continue to make great things happen.

This holiday season please donate to my World of Opportunity campaign and support my passion and commitment to EWB. Together, we can help increase the opportunities for rural Africans to thrive.

Warm Regards,

Dan
