Matthew's World of Opportunity

Family members and friends,

This Christmas, I am raising funds for Engineers Without Borders to build Opportunities for rural Africans to improve their lives.

As you may know, I have spent a significant portion of my time working for EWB in the past couple of years. I am doing this for several reasons.

Firstly, I have experienced, firsthand, the ability of EWB to create change in the lives of students. I would like other students to also have the chance for this to happen.

Secondly, from the stories of the difficulty ma ma and yea yea faced raising a family on the wages of a tofu maker and seamstress, or the way gong gong and po po had their lives uprooted when the red army invaded in communist China, or the way mom and dad dated on the subway to save money, I believe that we are living in privileged position in Canada right now. I would like a chance to help others achieve the Opportunity that we have had in our family.

I am asking for your support specifically through EWB because I am convinced that donating to EWB will provide significant Opportunities to people who otherwise are denied a chance to improve their lives.

I have chosen to focus on Agriculture as Business with this page because I see it as a way for rural Africans to gain access to Opportunities which can improve their lives. If rural Africans approach farming as a business, they will be able to earn more money and be able to secure a better future for their family. The video above explains what EWB is doing as an organization in this field.
