A photo I took in Nyologo, Ghana while hanging out with Abdul Hazak (foreground). EWB's work in Ghana is helping families increase their incomes, which means that kids like Abdul are able to complete school. Take a look at the video below to learn more...
To all my friends, family and colleagues, I need your help in contributing to my campaign to create opportunities for farmers like Abdul Hazak. Abdul is a farmer and friend from northern Ghana, and he’s my partner in creating a world of opportunity. Through EWB’s work with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, we are helping farmers like Abdul increase their yearly incomes by up to 300%. For someone like Abdul, this is transformative. His increased prosperity means that he has the opportunity to return to school, and his family has been able to upgrade their house with a metal roof. Your donation today can help many other farmers like Abdul in a lasting way, not through handouts, but through helping Ghana’s Ministry of Food and Agriculture be the best in Africa. Our volunteers are working with Ghanaians to help them train farmers. We want farmers to see their farms as businesses and as opportunities to improve their lives. Amazing people like Abdul are why I do what I do. He is why I spend 80 hours per week on EWB. He is why I’ve dedicated the last 10 years of my life to EWB. I’m passionate about seeing Abdul’s children with some semblance of the opportunities that I enjoyed growing up, and that we enjoy now in Canada. I know that Abdul is my partner in this endeavour. EWB’s ambitions this year are huge, and so I’ve set an ambitious goal of raising $10,000 from my friends and colleagues. This will be tough, so I’m asking for your support and help. I believe in EWB, we’re a well-run organization, we will use your money well. So, please help me by giving generously. If you can afford $1,000, that’s great. If it’s $100, fantastic. If it’s $50, that will help EWB reach our goals. And remember, you get 30-40% back from the government at the end of the year, so be sure to take that into account! I’ll leave you with a Ghanaian proverb: “If you want to go quickly, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” Thank you for your support. |
