I can see it now!!!
Clocking at at $363 for 35 seconds in the freezing cold waters of English Bay, after being drenched in an absolute downpour, I took the plunge with Xena the Warrior Princess, Ali Baba, a fair trade banana and a fair trade coffee sack. Pictures to come soon to all of you who helped us reach this awesome conclusion. Thank you. ANNOUNCEMENT: INCREDIBLE! Another $113 in just two days! This means another 10 seconds added on to my original 20 seconds, for a grand total of 30 seconds in those biting waters of English Bay. Boy am I excited *shivers*. For anyone interested in personally witnessing the event, it will occur on January 1st New Year's Day, at 2:30pm, English Bay, with motley cohort of myself as the EWB Cowboy, a Fair Trade Banana and Coffee Sack, Xena the Warrior Princess, Ali Baba, and potentially an appearance by Zorro and Julius Ceasar. We are also being interviewed by CTV! AWESOME! ANNOUNCEMENT: WE have made it to my INITIAL goal of $200! This is incredible people, and I thank you for your generous contributions! This IS NOT THE END! For every added donation THERE IS A CHANCE that I will ADD TIME TO MY SWIM in the icy waters this New Year's Day. It would be a shame to go for only 20 seconds into those frigid waves when I will be dressed as an EWB COWBOY! Thank you again. Friends, family, and colleagues – This year I am helping Engineers Without Borders build a World of Opportunity for rural Africans. In communities across Zambia, Malawi, Ghana and Burkina Faso there are millions of hardworking and innovative people seeking the chance to improve their lives. Yet, all too often they are stuck - unable to move forward because they lack the same opportunities that you and I have here in Canada. I support EWB’s work to foster these opportunities for rural Africans - specifically I am excited by EWB's approach to influencing the Canadian government's contributions to development. Now more than ever, our government needs to reestablish itself as a global leader and drastically improve the effectiveness of our foreign aid. EWB holds Canada’s political leaders accountable for their approach to international development. This is why I am asking you to support EWB’s work this holiday season. I believe that EWB is a powerful vehicle for creating positive change. EWB is seeking to increase its impact – by doubling its volunteer capacity and flexibility to innovate. I know that they will use your donation effectively, and continue to make great things happen. This holiday season please donate to my World of Opportunity campaign and support my passion and commitment to EWB. Together, we can help increase the opportunities for rural Africans to thrive. |
